Shekhar (Arvind Swamy) is the son of an orthodox Hindu Narayana Pillai (Nassar), who lives in a village on the coast in Tamil Nadu. A journalism student in Bombay to study, Shekhar visits to be at home with his family. In one of his round trips, he recognizes Shaila Banu (Manisha Koirala), a Muslim schoolgirl in the village and loses his heart to her. At first shy, Shaila seeks to distance himself from Shekhar, but after the traffic and the days of the persecution begins Shaila Shekhar. Finally, the two fall in love.
Shekhar knows Shaila’s father, Basheer Ahmed (Kitty) and shows that he wants to marry her. Basheer checks it out to cite the difference in the religions. Shekhar shows his interest in his father Pillai, who is angry, he met Basheer and the abusive argument is with him. Angry about the rejection of the two families, Shekhar leaves the village and return to Bombay. Through Shaila’s friend, he sent a letter and a ticket to go to Bombay. It is, however, uncertain; Basheer gets to know her regular letters Shekhar and plans to marry her immediately to stop this growing relationship. Left no other choice, Shaila leaves the village with the ticket sent by Shekhar and arrives in Bombay. They marry and lead a happy life. Shaila twins conceived and delivery is called Kabir Narayan and Kamal Basheer. The twins are triggered in both religions. Shekhar continues to work as a journalist while Shaila takes care of home and children. After six years, Shekhar and Shaila are established in your life and begin the process of reuniting with their families again.
